How Facebook Search works in 1 minute
When you search for something on Facebook, the things that come up are ranked based on your activity and the activity of the Facebook community. While both affect what you see when you hit ‘Search’ it depends on what you search for as to how much either of those things affect your results.
Facebook have always believed in serving the right content to the right people. This is what makes their advertising so effective. The actions you take while on Facebook, whether that is liking the latest holiday sales to Japan or sharing a blog post about Marie Kondo’s recently popular tidying series, can affect what search results you get.
Other things like Pages you follow, Groups you have joined, information you have listed on your profile or places you have been tagged at will all contribute to the search results you see. Facebook search results are also based on general Facebook community activity, including the popularity of whatever you are searching for and how recently it was posted.
This is why we are always telling our clients consistency is key. Posting good content regularly will help you to stay in search results.
Another way to help boost your ranking on Facebook search is to give your page a @Username. The username feature on Facebook sits just underneath your Profile picture (see below example) and contributes to making your business easier to find on Facebook search.
